Mrs. Deborah Scott Howell was born March 16, 1958 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of the late Theodore and Ethel Scott. Deborah was called home to be with the lord on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the W.J.B. Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina.

At an early age, Deborah accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Gadsden, South Carolina, where she served faithfully until she married and transferred her membership to St. James Baptist Church. There she remained until her untimely departure. She was employed by the government for more than 30 years.

Deborah was known for her good cooking, being an avid reader and spending time with family and friends, especially “The Smiling Face” club. She had a sweet spirit and a special way of delivering her message. She was always very protective of her boys!

Deborah was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend.  Although she is no longer with us physically, her loving spirit is forever branded on our hearts and deeply rooted in the lives of all who loved and knew her.

Waiting to welcome Deborah to her heavenly home are her parents; her sister, Lucille Scott–White; and her son, Rolando Howell, Sr.

She leaves to cherish precious memories: her loving husband, David; two sons, David A. (Dejena) of Wiley, Texas and Ivan (Shondreya) of Lawrenceville, Georgia; five grandsons: Jalen, Rolando, Jaheim, Ivan Jamir and Davian; four granddaughters: Imani, Nyla, Jenasis and Jueles; two sisters, Demetrius Scott of Eastover, South Carolina and Tamara (Albert) Washington of Columbia, South Carolina; and one brother, Marlon (Tomeka) Scott She also leaves ten brothers-in-law and nine sisters-in-law; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by her departure, but rejoice that she is now resting with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
