David Rivers, Jr.
August 9, 1955 ~ June 21, 2017 (age 61) 61 Years OldDavid Rivers, Jr., the son of David Lee Rivers and the late Ella Mae Gates Rivers, was a devoted veteran who served his country in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. He peacefully departed his earthly life on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, and entered into eternity with Jesus; God, his Heavenly Father; all the Heavenly Hosts; and relatives and friends.
He was born in Elloree, South Carolina, and raised in Jamaica, New York, where his parents relocated. David attended the public schools in Jamaica. After graduation, he completed tours of duty in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.
David accepted Jesus at an early age while attending Calvary Baptist Church in Jamaica. He was a certified electrician and worked in various construction projects. He also studied accounting and worked as an assistant manager at Walmart. David also volunteered in various capacities at the W.M. Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center helping veterans.
He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter, Chenoa (Sherrod) Bethea, and two grandchildren, Temeria Rivers and Jaeden Jeter, all of Orangeburg, South Carolina; his father, David Lee Rivers of Elloree, South Carolina; two brothers, Jeffrey (Violet) Rivers of Asheville, North Carolina and Marvin Williams of Brooklyn, New York; one sister, Stephanie Green of Columbia, South Carolina; one aunt, Annie Mae Rivers Johnson of Jamaica, New York; and many other relatives and friends.
