Mrs. Cora Lee Riley departed this life on Sunday, December 4, 2016. Cora Lee was born November 12, 1935, in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Cornelia Smith Guider.
Cora Lee was educated in the Richland County public schools. In 1999, she retired from the Food Services Division of Richland County School District One after 47 years of dedicated service. Cora Lee joined Zion Chapel Baptist Church at an early age, remaining faithful until her health began to decline.
She enjoyed cooking for her family, especially when her aunts requested her apple betty, or when her sister Carrie wanted her fried chicken, potato salad and fresh squeezed lemonade when they came home. One of her proudest moments was when she obtained her driver’s license at the age of 56 and purchased her own vehicle.
Cora Lee was predeceased by her parents; husband, Jackson Riley; daughter, Barbara Peterson; sisters, Carrie Thompson and Henrietta Griffin; and brother, Wilbert Guider.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories three sons: Horace (Debra) Guider, Darryl (Reponza) Riley and Terry (Stephanie) Riley; three daughters: Patricia (Brady) Hudson, Audrey (Antonio) Kenion and LaSalle Riley; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; her brother, Willie M. Guider, all of Columbia, South Carolina; one aunt, Essie Lee Reese of Middletown, Delaware; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
