Mr. Christopher Carter Mikell, Jr. was born October 23, 1998 in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of LaCorsha Nakia Melton and Christopher Carter Mikell, Sr. On Monday, April 4, 2016, our heavenly Father stretched out His hand and guided Chris home to be with Him.

He was educated in the public schools of Richland County in South Carolina and Duval County in Florida. At the age of nine, he got his first job selling newspapers, with his Nana right by his side being his bodyguard. He was in love with making money ever since. He was previously employed with Earthworks Landscaping and most recently with P&S Management. “Zoom-Zoom,” as he was affectionately known, enjoyed participating in sports until he was injured in 2014. He loved surfing, skateboarding, paint-balling and had a serious passion for agriculture. His favorite teams were the Oakland Raiders, Pittsburg Steelers and the Oregon Ducks. He will forever be remembered for his smile, sense of humor and hilarious comments that always brightened your day.

Chris was very protective, caring and loving when it came to his family. Those feelings carried over to his community when, in October 2015, he established an organization called Hope & Dreams. He was excited to give back to his community through the donation of food, clothes and toys to the men’s and children’s homeless shelters in Jacksonville, Florida, where he resided.

Those left to cherish precious and fond memories are: his parents, LaCorsha (Tito) Melton and Christopher Carter Mikell, Sr.; his stepfather, Richard Stewart; his loving sisters, MaKayla Stewart, Nyya McCants, Oksana Mikell and Esantae Gumbs; his loving brother, Tavonta Hilton; his grandparents, Pilar Mikell and Earthea and Anthony Limehouse; and his great-grandparents, Mary and James Woodard. He also leaves his aunts: McKinzie Mikell, Nafesta (Shedrick) Tucker, Theresa (Michael) Melton, Kimberly (Nakwan) Melton and Katrisha (Thaddeus) Rice; a special great aunt, Angela Smith of Columbia, South Carolina; an uncle, Jonathan (Olive) Paul of Jacksonville, Florida; and a host of other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by: his baby brother, Rocky Mikell Melton; his grandfather, Horace Watts; and his godmother, JaQuanda Jones.
