Mrs. Charlotte Alston Young was born November 5, 1932 in Blythewood, South Carolina.  She was the daughter of the late George Alston and Lelia McDaniel Alston Edger. On Sunday, January 7, 2018, God called his angel home.

Charlotte was joined in Holy Matrimony to (the late) Odell Young. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Debra.

She was educated in the public schools of Richland County. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church, serving on the Missionary Board until her health declined.

In addition to her parents and husband, Charlotte was predeceased by two sisters, Jessie A. Mack and Josephine A. Nash; and two brothers, Robert and John Edger.

Left to cherish beautiful memories and special moments is her daughter Debra Y. Scott; two grandchildren; Nikki Scott and Chasity; two great- grandchildren, Ja’Cobi and Ja’Kayla Clarke, all of Columbia, South Carolina; a sister, Sadie E. Shell, also of Columbia; a special niece reared in the home, Jackie A. (James) Robertson, and her children, Terrel and James (Olivia) Robertson. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Dorothy Dixon of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends, all of whom miss her dearly.
