Cathy Rice was born April 5, 1958 in Asheville, North Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of the late Willie Thompson, Jr and Dorothy Penland Thompson. She peacefully departed this life on November 10, 2017, while at home.

She was a 1976 graduate of Asheville High School. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Wesleyan University in 2002. For more than 20 years, Cathy was employed by the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT).

At an early age, she received Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was an active member of Life Living Ministries, where she was recently named Woman of the Year. Cathy faithfully led both the Hostess and the Harvest Hope Outreach Ministries. She was an avid bowler! She loved fellowshipping with the bowling community as much as she loved the sport itself.

Memories of Cathy and the legacy she leaves will forever be cherished by her husband of 44 years, Kenneth Rice; sons: Cameron (Jennifer), Kenyan, and Keith; grandchildren, Kenyan, Trevor, Andrew, Chianne, Keon, Kayla, and Kailey; sisters, Deborah (Craig) Sloan and Victoria (Mark) Lewis; brother, Johnathan Penland; and many other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
