Carrie Mae Hall
October 29, 1923 ~ June 19, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years OldCarrie Mae Hall was born October 29, 1923 in Blair, South Carolina to the late Mr. and Mrs. Lula and Ozzie Hopkins, Sr. She departed this earthly life to be with her heavenly Father on June 19, 2017. She was 94 years old and live a wonderfully full life.
Carrie, affectionately called “Carrie Possum” family and friends and “Mama” by her grandchildren, was known for her hearty and BIG personality! She retired as a cook from “The Roost” Cafeteria at the University of South Carolina.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Preston Hall, Sr.; her baby boy, Gerald Hall; her siblings: Ozzie Hopkins, Jr., Walter Hopkins and Lillie Ruth Berson.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her only daughter, Betty (Nathaniel) Hall-Perkins; sons: Jimmie Preston “Bubba” Hall of Columbia, South Carolina and Charles Hall of Dothan, Alabama; a sister, Dorothy Berthea of Columbia, South Carolina; seventeen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren; Beulah Fordham who was like a sister; and a host of other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly. Also missing her presence is her special pet, “AJ”.
