Carrie K. Henry was born January 5, 1930 in Laurens County, South Carolina to the late Henry and Sallie Cleveland Kennedy.  She departed this life on Wednesday, May 31, 2017.

She was married to Clarence Henry on December 25, 1949 and was blessed with one loving daughter, Minnie H. Johnson. She attended Friendship College in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She retired from the State Hospital in December 1989.

At an early age, she joined Bethel Grove AME Church in Gray Court, South Carolina where she served on the Usher Board, Gospel Choir, Missionary Board and attended Sunday School.

In 1965, Carrie moved to Columbia, South Carolina and joined Reid Chapel AME Church where she continued to be a very active member. She was crowned Queen of the Lancaster District in 2000 at St. Luke AME Church, representing Reid Chapel AME Church.

She continued working for the Lord after joining Bethel AME Church in 2003. She was on the Stewardess Board I, a member of the Missionary Board, on the vocal ensemble and attended Sunday School, until she was faced with challenging health issues.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one loving daughter, Minnie H. Johnson; a loving granddaughter, Katrina A. Johnson; her loving great- grandson, Rasha Rice; a brother-in-law, Clemson Jones, and sister-in-law, Cora Henry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
