Mr. Bruce Allen “Dupree” Jordan, son of the late Fletcher and Thelma Coulter-Jordan, was born on October 16, 1955 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He departed this life on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at his residence in Irmo, South Carolina, after a lengthy illness.

Bruce graduated from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School in 1973 and attended South Carolina State University.  He later relocated to Columbia, South Carolina and worked for several companies, including Heilig-Meyers Furniture Company, Rhodes Furniture, Carolina Auto Mall, Endicott Johnson shoe store, Kelly Services, Amazon, and Blue Cross Blue Shield from where he later retired. 

At an early age, he attended his family church, Williams Chapel AME, in Orangeburg, South Carolina.  He accepted Christ as his personal savior and became a member of Word of God Church and Ministries International in Columbia.

Bruce was a very private, caring person who loved his family and enjoyed playing tennis and basketball. He was a homebody and an avid football fan who could sit and watch football for hours.  His favorite saying was, “We got this; God is in control.” 

Bruce Jordan leaves to cherish special memories, one sister, Jean Johnson, and two brothers, Richard and Rodney Jordan, all of Orangeburg, South Carolina; his loving companion and dedicated caregiver,  Gladys Durant of Irmo, South Carolina, whom he affectionately  called his “Darling”; a nephew, Russell Johnson of Georgia, and niece, Pamela Johnson of Texas; as well as several close friends that he considered brothers: Ronald Broderick, Johnny Anderson, John Rivers, Robert Taylor, O’Neal Vanderhost, Earl Porterfield, Derrick Pringle, and Larkin Ronald “Spider” Williams. He also leaves a host of other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly
