On October 14, 1961 the family of Yvonne Scott and the late Charlie L. proudly welcomed their fifth child to their growing clan in Miami, Florida.  There were a total of nine siblings. He would be known as “Scotty” with the outgoing spirit, trash talking, joking, love to have fun, out spoken and most importantly loving heart.

Barrett attended school in Miami, Dunbar Elementary, Booker T. Junior, and Miami Jackson Senior High. After high school Barrett enlisted into the Army as an Infantryman.  During his tour in the military he traveled and saw the world. During his tour in Germany he met and fell in love with Lurlene Isabell.

They were married on July 18, 1986 and welcomed their son, Barrett K. Scott II the same year, who preceded him in death.  They enjoyed 30 years of love.

After completing his military tour, Barrett decided it was time for growth and made the decision to return back to the United States and became a Truck Driver.  Truck Driving was his passion.

Barrett and his family relocated to Columbia and made it their home.  During their stay in Columbia he met many friends who would later become their extended family.  Each day he looked forward to going to work where he gave so much love to so many people. His giving spirit, kindness, and his handsome face will be treasured.

Barrett loved to travel and ride motorcycles.  In his walk of life he met no strangers.  He loved his family and life and lived each day like it was his last. He was the best husband, father, brother, brother in law and uncle anyone could have asked for.

On January 16, 2017 Barrett was swept away from us to his place in God’s arms.  He will be sadly missed by so many, but each day he was here with us we will cherish those precious memories. He has gained his wings.

Those left to cherish his precious memories are his loving mother, Yvonne Scott; his former wife, Lurlene I. Scott; two sisters, Valencia Scott Guice (Rickey) and  Latosha Scott; three brothers:  Dexter Wilchcombe (Juanita), Derek Wilchcombe and Kelvin Scott; one aunt, Olga Wilchcombe; godson, Thelan Scott Shiver; and many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and special friends.
