It’s with love and honor that we celebrate the life of a husband, brother, father, grandfather, cousin, uncle, and friend. The journey of Andrew L. Spigner, Sr. began June 2, 1942 in Columbia, SC and peacefully ended at Lexington Medical Hospital on Saturday, April 21, 2018.
“Uncle Angie”, as his family and friends affectionately knew him, enjoyed cooking, gardening, tending to his animals, and spending time with his family.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, Irving Spigner, Sr. and Essie Mae Spigner; and three brothers, John C. Spigner, Clyde Spigner, Sr., and Roosevelt Spigner.
Andrew graduated from Hopkins High School and attended Allen University. He was self-employed as a Master Concrete Finisher whose work still remains as the foundation of some of Columbia’s nicest neighborhoods.
Andrew leaves to cherish his loving memory: his wife of fifty-one years, Emma W. Spigner; three daughters: Sheila M. Spigner, Veronica E. Spigner-James, and Melissa S. Spigner; one son: Andrew L. Spigner, Jr.; one son-in-law: Omar James, Sr.; six grandchildren: Tamiya Blanding, Kamari Spigner-James, Trohvoris Blanding, Zariah James, Tre’von Blanding, and Omar James, Jr.; one brother: Irving Spigner, Jr.; three sisters-in-law: Catherine Spigner, Sallie Wood, and Nellie Spigner; two brothers-in-law: Grover Wood and Raney Daniel; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
