Mrs. Ana Santiago was born February 15, 1932 in the beautiful island of town of Moca in Puerto Rico. She was the daughter of the late Eusebio and Juana Hernandez Santiago. She was called to eternal rest on February 17, 2017 at her home in Sumter, South Carolina.

Ana had eleven brothers and ten sisters. The family lived in Puerto Rico her entire childhood. She met and married (the late) Felix LaSalle Nuñez, Sr., a soldier in the United States Army. In 1952, Ana Felix and their oldest child, Lucy, moved to New York City, There, the family grew to include Ruthie, (the late) Felix Jr. and Jiddell.

After studying music and earning her degree, Ana opened the Ana Nuñez Music Academy in 1960. For more than a decade, she brought the joy of music to the East Bronx community.

Ana was a dedicated Christian mother. Her love of God and her family was great. Church was a vital part of Ana’s life. Sewing, dancing and music brought joy to both her and her family.

She is survived by her children: Lucy Nuñez Gordon of Columbia, South Carolina, Ruthie Nuñez and Jiddel (Thomas) of Sumter, South Carolina; grandchildren: Jessica, Elvin, LaShaun (Andre), Andre (Davetta) Robert (Jasmine), Anthony (Sintoria), Amorita, Jorel (Kellie) and OJ; and great-grandchildren: Elvin III, Daija, Gabriella, Andrea, Trinity, Omari, Iyana, Aidan, Koven, Braylon, Anthony Jr., Omantae, MaKiyla, MaKenzie, JaKelle, Carter, Jackson, Madison, Cameron and Mason.
